On September 9th, the VISP-MA Program at the Department of Mathematics hosted an event celebrating the beginning of Fall 22 semester and the Mid-Autumn Festival, a traditional Chinese celebration. Taking place on the top floor of Van Fleck hall, new and current students as well as alumni of the mathematics VISP and masters programs were invited to enjoy food and socialize. Many dishes were served, including mooncakes to honor the Mid-Autumn celebration, also known as the Mooncake Festival. Multiple faculty also attended the event, and enjoyed the opportunity to get to know their students outside of the lecture hall. Students discuss their plans for the coming year, both academic and personal, savoring this calm and warm end of summer. (By Hart Easley)
