Undergraduates sought to participate in Madison Experimental Math (MXM) Lab

Are you interested in exploring research level mathematics? Are you curious about open questions in various active research fields? Or maybe you want to apply your programming knowledge to answer interesting mathematical questions? If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, consider applying for a project at the Madison Experimental Mathematics (MXM) Lab!

The goal of the MXM Lab is to facilitate undergraduate research in mathematics. It is modeled after other successful labs across the country (and even a few across the world!). In Fall 2023 we will have 11 projects running. The projects have been proposed by a faculty member and will consist of a team of 3-4 undergraduates (maybe including you!) along with a graduate student mentor. You will be expected to sign up for 3 credits and to commit to 9 hrs per week of work, including a weekly meeting with the team as a whole. Projects and their descriptions can be found here: https://mxm.math.wisc.edu/fall-2023/, and more information, as well as instructions on how to apply, can be found here: https://mxm.math.wisc.edu/join-mxm/undergraduates/.

We hope you’ll consider applying! Applications will be due on August 25, 2023 and teams will be assigned before the semester starts. Feel free to contact us with any questions!

Best,

MXM Management Team
