Dear Graduate Students,
Welcome to the Department of Mathematics!
We are so happy to have you, and we hope that you are looking forward to a rewarding experience in a demanding and supportive program.
This handbook has been prepared by department staff with input from our graduate students and the support of the Graduate Program Committee to ease your transition into graduate school. The handbook details information about the graduate program, its requirements, and your responsibilities and opportunities as a TA.
We have a number of faculty and staff charged with ensuring that your education, teaching, and professional skills are being deeply enriched during your time in our program, and we encourage you to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.
We want your time here to be as rewarding and productive as possible as you begin your career. You have come to Wisconsin for your love of Mathematics, but we hope that you will find not only mathematics, but community, and tools that will help you navigate your career, whether it be in academia, industry, or some other venture. Our graduates go on to do great things, and you are here because we believe that you can too. We wish you a productive, rewarding, and happy time here at Wisconsin.
All of my best,
Autumn Kent
Director of Graduate Studies
