We have many international students in the Department of Mathematics and hope that this page answers some of the questions you may have.
Verification Requests
If you need advisor verification for a Terra Dotta request, fill out the appropriate form below. Please do not contact a math major advisor for this request. Within a few business days, you will receive an email that has more information and next steps for you to follow.
Please note we can only review requests for your math major or AMEP degree. If you only have requirements left for another major, contact that major’s department for a verification.
- Reduced Course Load Verification Request
- Program Extension Verification Request
- Concurrent Enrollment Verification Request
- Return from Leave of Absence Verification Request
Follow this guide for the recommended time to submit these requests based on the semester you need it. If you submit a request very early and your situation changes (for example, you drop a class, drop the major, etc.) you’d have to submit another request.
- RCL and Concurrent Enrollment Requests
- Submit in August for the next Fall term
- Submit between late November and mid-January for the next Spring term
- ISS recommends submitting before the start of classes for the term so for Summer that depends on when your course starts
- Most students won’t require an RCL for Summer so check in with your ISS advisor before requesting one
- Program Extension Requests
- You must submit the request at least 1 month before your current document expires
- We recommend not submitting it earlier than 3 months before your current document expires in case your situation changes
- Return from Leave of Absence Requests
- ISS needs at least 3 weeks to process a new I-20 so we recommend submitting the request at least 1 month before you need to travel to the US for courses
Please see the ISS pages below for more information about these requests:
- Reduced Course Load
- Extension of Stay: How to extend your I-20/DS-2019
