The information below is about the Summer 2023 term. Information about the Summer 2024 term will be available in early Spring 2024. Please back then, as we cannot guarantee the same offerings as in the previous summer.
Courses & Modalities
The Department of Mathematics is excited to offer a number of courses for the Summer 2023 term! We will be offering courses in online (with synchronous instructional times)* and in-person modalities over the 8-week DHH session**. * Online math courses have synchronous instruction. Similar to an in-person course, these are times in which students would have to be available online to meet with their classmates/instructor/TA. Students are expected to participate in the course given the scheduled times provided. Students should not be signing up for overlapping courses.
** MATH 141 will occur over the EFF session and is reserved for students in SCE.

Technology Requirements
For online courses, students are expected to have technology that meets the guidelines from the Department of Information Technology.
The Math Department would like for students to have working webcams for online courses, in the case that instructors would like to use the cameras to proctor exams. If you have any questions about the webcam and exams, please contact the course instructor.

Summer Course Workloads & Pacing
Please keep in mind that summer math courses cover the same content as regular 16-week courses in the fall and spring, albeit in a more condensed, 8-week format. Since summer courses are relatively fast-paced, consider your summer credit and course loads (i.e., the number of credits and courses you’re planning to take), course rigor, and other summer commitments when thinking about your summer courses. In particular, if you are taking more than one course, please remember to keep the workload expectations of the courses in mind (though it is good to keep in mind for any course load). You will need to exercise good time management skills in order to take summer courses, and to take math courses in particular.
